Kat's a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she's not writing, she's either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) - traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach.
Kat has been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article--a review of a rock concert--for $10 in 1985. Since then she's been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles.
As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There's something enticing about hockey players and romance...

The third and final book in my Inferno series came out on May 16th. It's about a woman whose past is haunting her and her search for the truth. It ties together some of the loose ends from the first two books and is really a beautiful depiction of combining traditional and unconventional lifestyles.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The book is part of the Inferno series, which as a whole has an underlying theme of love and acceptance—of everyone, no matter what they believe in. This was really important to me as the books came together, to leave readers with a message that goes a littlebeyond romance, hot sexy times and happy endings. The second book is M/M and it's very intense--not just the confusion of one of the characters, but also what happens to him in society as he struggles to accept being bisexual.
Anyway, the series is a little hotter, darker and somewhat less traditional than the Sidewinders, my hockey romance, but still all HEA's with true romance.
How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
The Inferno series is really a figment of my imagination. Although I think there's a tiny bit of me in all my female characters, these books were much darker than my own life, so I don't think they're related. My Sidewinders series is a lot more true to my life than this one.
Who designed the covers?
My covers are done by Dar Albert, from Wicked Good Designs. She's done all ten of my books and I hope she continues to do them for the rest of my career!
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Sex scenes! I don't mind writing them, and think they're a lot of fun, but now that I've published 10 books, I'm struggling to come up new and fresh ways to not just have sex, but to describe it as well. I know readers don't like a lot of words, and after a while, you need those words so you don't feel like you're repeating yourself. So far, I've managed to avoid "moist," but it's tough some days! :)
When and why did you begin writing?
I've been writing my whole life, since I learned to write. I have boxes and boxes of hand-written stories from the last 40 years. I wish I had the time to get them in digital format so I can enjoy and share some of them, but it would probably take years.
I was also a sports and entertainment journalist for about 25 years, so that's just another facet of my writing career. I decided to write fiction with the goal of actually publishing something about two years ago, while I was recovering from hip replacement surgery. I figured I had the time and I wasn't getting any younger, so I wrote the first four Sidewinders books--Dominic, Drake, Karl and Anatoli--in 2015 published them in 2016, along with book 5 (Zakk) and a holiday novella. I've published one more in that series plus the three in the Inferno series so far this year, and I hope to get out the next Sidewinders book in the fall, as well as a new series this summer.
What book are you reading now?
The Fireman and the Cop, by RJ Scott.
If any of your books was made into a film who would you like to play the lead?
I really am not a big movie fan... there are movies I enjoy, of course, like the Marvel and Star Wars movies, but I always draw a blank when it comes to actors and actresses. I think Blake Lively would make a lovely Emilie, and Charlie Hunnam (with short hair) would make a sexy Chains. I wonder if we can talk them into it???
Do you have a blog/website?
I don't blog, but my web site is www.katmizera.com and I have a very active reader group on Facebook--Kat Mizera's Vegas Vixens:https://www.facebook.com/groups/240364066425130
