Deleted: Jackson & Maggie by Tess Thompson Reviewed by Fawn ***** Stars If you are looking for an easy mellow romance that falls into place with no effort then this is the story to snuggle up with. This is one of those stories that is easily predictable with no crazy surprises. If you are okay with a simple read like that, then this is a fun story of Maggie and Jackson finding each other after 12 years and feeling like no time has passed in the romance. There are a few sections in the book that left me shaking my head with a chuckle. ~~~~~~ Jackson Waller has loved Maggie Keene since they were six years old, but their dueling dreams ultimately tore them apart. Geissinger Reviewed by Loren B ***** Stars I had never read anything by J.T. Geissinger, and let me tell you that I was blown away by this story. True love truly doesn't die in this all-consuming love story filled with heartache, tragedy, heartbreak, mystery, so much emotion and, believe it or not, comedy. Megan became a widow five years ago and has never gotten over losing her husband. She decides to move from Phoenix to Seaside, Oregon to make her and her late husband's dream of buying and running a Bed and Breakfast a reality. From the minute Megan sees local contractor, Theo Valentine, at the diner, she feels friction and a haunting connection but doesn't understand his hostility towards her. She becomes friends with the local realtor, Suzanne, and when those two are conversing, it's a laugh a minute. I laughed out loud so many times, my neighbors probably thought I was crazy. Theo was once a popular, happy, local high school star football player, but a terrible accident turned his world upside down, and mysteriously, left him without a voice. Despite his tragedy, Theo runs a successful business as a contractor but keeps his distance from people when not working. Somehow, fate keeps bringing them together. Megan and Theo grabbed my heart and didn't let go, up to the very end. My emotions were all over the place, and I couldn't stop the tears when the story was nearing the end because I really didn't know how it would turn out. This is a FANTASTIC story -- one I know I'll read again. ~~~~~~ A hauntingly powerful love story in the tradition of The Notebook and The Time Traveler’s Wife. True love never dies. Megan and Cassidy were childhood sweethearts who thought they would be together forever. Fate had other plans. Soon after they were married, Cass’s life was tragically cut short. Still grieving her soul mate five years later, Megan moves to the small town of Seaside, Oregon, hoping to rebuild her life. Her first night there, she meets the town recluse, Theo. Withdrawn, guarded, and mysteriously silent since a terrible accident left him scarred, Theo takes an instant and inexplicable dislike to Megan. But as their paths cross again and again, Megan becomes convinced there’s more to Theo than meets the eye. When she discovers the reason for his silence, his nightmares, and especially his pointed dislike, Megan becomes convinced of something far more astonishing. Is a second chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love possible, or is a broken heart the cruelest kind of liar? Bentley by Melanie Moreland Reviewed by Loren B ***** Stars I love when a book I’ve read by an author I’m not familiar with turns out to be a great one, and Bentley is definitely one of those. Opposites attract in this billionaire romance when an unexpected trip to, and inside of, a coffee shop brings Bentley and Emmy together. I liked both main characters, as well as the secondary characters, immediately. Bentley is very rich, formal, refined, structured, and dedicated to his business and his only two close friends – Aiden, bodyguard and head of security, and Maddox, who handles the finances for their company, BAM. Emmy is a baker at the coffee shop, who has been putting herself through design school, and is the complete opposite of Bentley in all ways, but she charmed him with her boldness, directness, laughter, and delicious scones. This story has everything you could want – humor, mystery, intrigue, loyalty, danger, and passion and is about learning to trust and letting go of the past. I enjoyed this story so much, that I pre-ordered book 2, Aiden, and will definitely pre-order book 3, Maddox, when the time comes. ~~~~~~ Three young men meet in university and form a lifelong friendship. Their pasts dictate the men they are, but their present shapes their future. What happens when these men meet the one person they are destined to be with? Can they fight their feelings and walk away? Or will they each succumb and learn the sweet agony of love? Bentley The leader of the group. He is uptight, formal, and cold. Rigid and set in his ways, always following the same path. Until the day, he stumbles upon her. Emmy. She brings with her spontaneity and light. The world she lives in is so different from his, yet he cannot control the draw to her. Nor can he explain the way she makes him feel. Happy. Protective. Loved. Cut Short by Julia Wolf Reviewed by Jdmjr85 ***** Stars Rachel Sachs finally has her life together— almost. She owns a salon in the town she's always loved, dances the Running Man like nobody's business, has regular wine nights with her girls, and does really good hair....Until she sees Joe Silver— the object of her high school obsession and the breaker of her young heart. That might be a little too real.Fourteen years ago, Rachel ghosted when Joe made it clear she'd never have him. But now? He's not letting her get away. And soon they're right back to where they started, only instead of the all night instant messaging they did in high school, they're blowing up each other's phones with texts. Rachel has always loved Joe. When he rejected her she fell into the arms of a man who actually wanted her. After years in a miserable marriage Rachel has managed to follow her dreams. She has her own place and is a co-owner of a salon. One fateful day she runs into Joe. She realizes there is still a spark there. Joe goes out of his way to reconnect with Rachel. When Rachel finds out Joe is moving to her town and into the house she loves, she is excited and nervous. Unfortunately past hurts and insecurities hold Rachel back from giving Joe her all. Despite this Joe continues to peruse Rachel and does his best to show her that he is the man she needs. I loved this book. Every page had my rapt attention. I understood Rachel's hesitation with Joe and while there was a point where she may have overreacted, even that was understandable. Rachel is a woman who has spent a lot of time rebuilding her confidence and independence. Joe is a dream man. He is handsome, sweet, thoughtful and all around great. He wants Rachel just the way she is. He even dropped everything to be there for her when she needs him (swoon). I was rooting for him the entire time. When Rachel's ex showed up I wanted to punch him. The fact Joe wasn't there to do it was frustrating. Rachel has pretty awesome friends. They made the story even better. This book is a definite 5 star for me. I hope that Eliza and Frannie get their own book. ~~~~~~ Of all the towns and salons he could have walked into, he had to walk into hers... Unfortunately because of Maddies past hurts it is not easy getting her to open herself up to him. But now that Mac has found something he never knew he wanted, he will fight to get and keep it. I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. The author wrote in a way that pulled me in and kept me enthralled until the end. I would have read this in one day, but sleep and work got in the way. It was really that good for me. There was love, romance, laughter, heartache and more in every part of this book. Marie was able to pull off a insta-love story that was believable. There were some of the secondary characters I wanted to smack and others that I loved. Madie had a hard time opening up to Mac, but he was persistent and the outcome was beautiful. Did I mention there are both steamy and swoon worthy moments? Well there are plenty of both. I cant wait to read the rest of this series. Hopefully we will see more of Big Mac, since he was one of my favorite people in the book. ~~~~~~ Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed. Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another. Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.
