I have several works on the horizon. My romantic suspense, Tattoo Killer of the Tattoo Crimes Series, is currently part of a box set call My Security with 5 other full-length novels. The second book in the TC series, Inked Killer, comes out October 3, 2017.
Who designed the covers?
Deranged Doctor Design designed Tattoo Killer. They also have designed the first three covers of my Dark Amulet Series.
What books have most influenced your life most?
I love J.R. Ward’s books. She’s the reason I started writing. I can’t name one particular book as the most influential.
Do you remember the first book you read?
This book would have to be The Lorax by Dr. Seus. ;) That’s the only book I remember reading as a little kid. I must confess I didn’t like reading when I was younger. When I became an adult I really fell in love with books, romance in particular. I’ve read lots of other genres of course, but I always fall back on my first love, romance. My favorite genre to read is paranormal romance.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I tend to write dark themes but like adding levity to my books to keep the tone from getting completely gloomy. I think this also adds a layer of depth to the characters. My books also always have an HEA or HFN. I also love action oriented plots, so my books tend to be fast-paced and full of action.
I write in past tense, third person limited most of the time. However, you’ll probably never catch me writing in present tense or first person. I’m not really one to have a lot of introspection because it slows the pacing of a story too much for my style of writing. I have a short attention span and need things to be happening or I get bored. And if I get bored writing the book than so will the reader when they read it. ;)
I’d also say that I usually write linear as opposed to skipping around and then piecing the book together with random scenes. I plot very little, and pants a lot of the book but I always know how the story ends before I start, otherwise I’d never get to the end.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
This is a tough one for me. I used to journal when I was a teenager. I was teased a lot and this was a way for me to escape and an outlet for my angst. I thought about writing a memoir for years but decided that writing fiction would be much more interesting to read. LOL.
What book are you reading now?
Yikes! Next question.
If any of your books was made into a film who would you like to play the lead?
Tattoo Killer and Inked Killer feature a detective who I’d love for Jason Beghe to play.
