When she’s not messing with her own characters lives, she’s reviewing other people’s stories for the Vampire Book Club.
Coerced into signing an ironclad contract by an Angel-with-attitude, Alexis must hunt down and assassinate at least one vampire, werewolf, or creepy crawly every night for fifty years to become human again. Too bad the contract didn’t mention the badass vampire who now rides shotgun in her brain, insatiable bloodlust, or her new I-hate-everything-with-fangs sidekick. If she can fulfill her end of the bargain, her humanity is restored, if not she will be destroyed.
But when a revenge-seeking bloodsucker threatens her city, Alexis must risk everything to ensure there’s a humanity to return to. Since her vampire nature is her greatest weapon to defeat the monsters that threaten her friends and future, Alexis must choose to accept her inner beast or watch those she loves die.
Hell-bent on ruining her future, Gia’s psychotic ex-boyfriend then abducts her, transporting her to an underground world of destruction, drugs, and death. He’s no wicked witch and they’re in no enchanted forest. He’s evil incarnate and she’s submerged in hell-on-earth, a twisted thing of nasty nightmares.
Gia must fight for her happily-ever-after—and her true love—by facing down her ex and the demons of her past.
After a lifetime of dating losers, Noel Chase thinks she’s found love with college professor Len Holder. But Cupid's aim sucks worse than his crap-tacular curse, sticking her with supposed soul mate, Grayson Adler. Grayson is gorgeous, Greek, and an exact replica of the man-whores of her past. No matter what the chubby cherub thinks, Noel is sure Grayson is Mr. Wrong with a capital “W.”
Forced to do Cupid’s bidding, Noel must spend her days with Grayson matchmaking the unlucky-in-loves, and trying to resist Grayson’s charm and do-me-now sex appeal. But when Cupid tries to match her fiancé, Len, with another woman, Noel must make an excruciating decision. Defy Cupid and hang on to Len? Or succumb to her fate and trust Grayson with her heart?
Until she meets Daniel.
An angel who has been sent to save her from the Soul Stealer, a fallen angel who marked her soul for the devil. But is Daniel strong enough to save her from her fate and is Hope strong enough to let him?
I just typed the end on the first draft of Book three in the Redeeming Cupid Series, Pricked By Thorns, and started on the hardest part, editing.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Most of my novels are about being happy with who you are, not changing to make someone else happy, that sort of girl power thing. I was actually surprised the first few times readers pointed out that they got the message.
How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Not many, I write paranormal romance and Urban Fantasy so it would be a stretch to say that any of that actually happened to me. I do however write characters that are very much like me. I did write a short story that was published and how the MC met the man who saved her was how I met one of my best friends in high school so, I guess I use some real life things in my stories, but not for major plot points.
Who designed the covers?
The covers for the Redeeming Cupid series were designed by Eerilyfair Design, and Evil’s Unlikely Assassin was designed by Erica Petit Illustrations.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Find ways to bring humor through the darkest, more depressing parts of the book. Joss Whedon has a quote that I love to live by when I write, “Make it dark, make it grim, make it tough, but then for the love of god, tell a joke. - Joss Whedon” So, when I am writing something really heavy, I know that I need to give the reader a break and make them laugh. It doesn’t always happen in the first draft, but I always mark the spot and work it in there in the second draft.
When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve tinkered with writing, but it wasn’t until four years ago, that I started to get serious. My husband traveled a lot, like three weeks out of every month, and I was home with two toddlers. I felt myself slipping into depression, angry because I didn’t really have anything that was my own. Hubby came home from a business trip and I told him I was going to a local writers group that Sunday. I went and became a regular. It was the first thing in my life in a long time that I didn’t have to share with anyone else. It was just mine. It also helped pull me out of the depression.
What book are you reading now?
I’m currently reviewing a book for Vampire Book Club, Mark Of the Moon by Beth Dranoff.
If any of your books was made into a film who would you like to play the lead?
I’ve got Pinterest boards devoted to this question. For Evil’s Unlikely Assassin: Alexis – Kate Bekinsale, Reaper – The Rock or Vin Deisel, Nathan – Billy Idol, Julian – Chris Pine.
