Tracie writes in various genres, Contemporary Romance but likes to explore relationships that are not always easy and there isn't always a happy ending, Romantic Suspense, Thriller, and Erotic Romance. She likes to have her books feel real with realistic timelines and with strong women who don't run because the going gets tough. Sex is important between loving people, therefore all her books contain graphic scenes. However, the character's relationship is more important.

I started writing as part of my therapy from depression. I didn’t intend to release anything; it was just a way of giving myself something to do and to escape into a world of fiction for a little while. The first book I wrote, A Virtual Affair, started life as a journal, something I was encouraged to write by my therapist. I decided to type that journal up and it morphed into a fictional story. It was many years later, and a complete rewrite, that I released that book.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
No, I just want readers to enjoy the characters and the worlds I create for them. It’s just a way to escape every day life and delve into someone else’s.
What books have most influenced your life most?
I can’t say there is one particular book that has influenced my life the most, however, I read Wind in the Willows multiple times when I was a child and my granddad took me to see the stage show. That show started my love of theatre. For a while, in my teens I was a member of the Old Vic Youth Theatre, I had aspirations to become an actor.
What book are you reading now?
I don’t read while I write, and right now, I’m busy writing. The last book I finished was an arc of Wicked Beginnings by L A Cotton and I loved it. Wicked Beginnings is scheduled for release soon and if you like Abbi Glines, you’ll love L A Cotton’s Wicked Beginnings.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I have two releases coming up. Taylor & Mack – A Mafia Romance accompanies my Fallen Angel Series and scheduled for release in November. It’s a novella and can be read as a standalone – so a nice quick read! Jackson is scheduled for release in December. Both books are available to pre-order on Amazon and iBook.
How about a little of Jackson…
Her sobs had quietened as the room darkened. We were lying on her bed and although it had been six months, her grief and anger still overwhelmed her. With every sob I’d listened to, my heart had broken just a little more. I had her wrapped in my arms; her head resting on my shoulder and my t-shirt was sodden with her tears. Her breathing had deepened and I knew she had finally dropped off to sleep. Each night I’d laid with her, each day I’d sat with her. She was my best friend but one I was in love with.
I breathed in deep the scent of her hair, the saltiness of her tears, and the pain she was going through. I wanted to turn back the clock; I wanted to absorb all her hurt but I couldn’t. Each day it was getting harder and harder to conceal my feelings for her. As she turned in my arms to place her back against my chest I curled into her. I wouldn’t sleep, I couldn’t. The feelings coursing through my body, hatred for her situation, love for her, and an overwhelming desire to fuck her, had my nerves on edge and my skin itch. For months I’d been able to control my needs but it was becoming more difficult. I had to make a choice, a very difficult one. I had to leave her, and that decision would destroy me.
How did you come up with the titles?
I’ll often have a working title when I plot the book. That title may change, sometimes something will come to me as I write. Other times, I’ll be thinking about a new story and the title will just be there. It’s quite hard to explain where they come from, to be honest! One of the first things I do is to check the title out on Amazon and see how many other books will have the same, when they were published, and by whom. It’s not often I’ll change a title, if it absolutely suits the book, it will be stuck in my mind and changing it won’t be an option.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Read! Just read – what you want, when you want. Don’t follow rules, if you like dark, go for it. If sweet is your thing, that’s great. Sometimes I see posts on social media absolutely raging, or raving, about a genre and I wonder what lovers of those genres feel. There will always be something you love, something you hate, and that’s okay. And if you loved what you read, tell your friends!
What do you want your legacy to be and why?
At the moment it would be A Virtual Affair because it’s that book that started me on this journey and is a personal story. It’s fiction, but with a little fact thrown in. I say at the moment because, somewhere down the line, before my career is done with, I might write that one profound story that resonates so deeply with my readers, and me, my ‘legacy’ book will change.
If your book was made into a film who would you like to play the lead?
I currently have fifteen books, seventeen by the end of the year, available. Muses change with each book but I have a nine book series, The Fallen Angel Series, and my main man, Robert Stone, would have to be played by Joe Manganiello!
Do you have a blog/website?
I have a website – www.TraciePodger.com but you’ll find me on social media, especially Facebook! If you’d like to connect, come find me here… https://www.facebook.com/TraciePodgerAuthor
